POLICY ON MARRIAGE
We believe that Christian family life is one of the most important things that we as the church must nurture and encourage. We therefore spend time in marriage preparation and run the Alpha Marriage course on a regular basis.
We gladly marry couples that regularly worship with us and are members of BMC.
People from other Christian Churches or denominations must bring a letter from their Minister agreeing that we marry them.
Those not members of a Christian church nor regularly attending worship services must agree to complete an Alpha course and come to our New Members Orientation group.
All people getting married in our church go through a Marriage Preparation Programme which includes completing a course called “Prepare /Enrich” which costs R250.00. This entails at least 3 sessions / meetings with the minister.
Revd. van Niekerk has started meeting with the families of the couples and finds this very rewarding,an opportunity for the whole wedding party to ‘get on the same page’,iron out finer details and ask any questions about the ceremony. Naturally these meetings are usually over a cup of tea/coffee on a Saturday and closer to the Big Day.
There are costs involved if you wish to use this church building, our flower ministry, the organist and/or soloists. The cost will vary,of course, depending on your choices. The office ladies will assist you. Rev van Niekerk does not set a fee for conducting the preparation counselling nor for conducting the service. This is an optional and freewill offering.
Venues catering for weddings and other big functions have mushroomed over the last few years. It saddens us that the churches are being used less and less for wedding services. However whether the service takes place in a church building or a fancy venue,it remains a Christian Service and all the above applies.
It is very important to make and confirm all appointments through the church office, once you have spoken to the minister,so this can be recorded in the diary. 011 455 2600
